Charlotte Graham is one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s leading interdisciplinary artists. A conceptual Māori artist and mana whenua mandated by her iwi, Graham is known for her confident exploration of materials and her ability to create work that challenges, questions and contributes to indigenous dialogue.
For more than 25 years, her practice has engaged with social, cultural and political issues, often exploring the relationship between people, place and the environment. These ongoing concerns continue to inform and inspire her work.
Charlotte also has a special connection to TIPENE, having previously taught at the kura. Her return as an exhibiting artist brings together her experience as both an educator and an established Māori artist, making her contribution to TUKU particularly meaningful..
