DAEMON WHAANGA
Waikato
This photograph of a tiki, captured by me in the Waikato, represents my deep connection to my iwi and whenua.
I chose this image because it reflects the powerful journey of TIPENE, from its past to its present and into its future. The darkness surrounding the water symbolises our history, while the golden sunlight breaking across the water represents hope, renewal and a new beginning.
This connects to our school motto, “Titiro Matatau Ki Te Rangi,” reminding us to look beyond the challenges of today and strive for excellence in everything we do.
Just as the sunlight cuts through the darkness, TIPENE has the strength to rise above its challenges, honour its legacy and build a brighter future for the generations to come.
